The second Youth Faculty Teaching Competition of the School of Food Engineering was successfully held

In order to promote teaching innovation among the young faculty of our school, guide them to devote themselves to teaching and education, consolidate their basic teaching skills and improve the educational and teaching levels, reserve the talents for the School level and Province level teaching competitionsIn the afternoon of December 26th, the second Young Faculty Teaching Competition was held in the School of Food Engineering at F229. Four young Faculty from three departments attended the competitions. Yun Zhang, Dean of the school of food engineering and Jing Zhao, vice Dean of the school of food engineering. Professor Shouwe Zhang , Liu Peng and Guoping Yu from the School of Food Engineering served as judges, and all faculty and staff from the school are required to attend the competition. The competition was hosted by Minghui Zhang.



This competition includes three parts: teaching design, classroom teaching, and teaching reflection. The teaching design section is evaluated by the judges based on the teaching design materials provided by the participating faculty. Actually the site competition consists of two parts: classroom teaching and teaching reflection. The judges mainly conducted a comprehensive and detailed evaluation from the teaching content, teaching organizational structure, teaching language and teaching style, and teaching characteristics.

Ms.Mingyue Sun , presented "Fruit and Vegetable Processing Technology" (Fruit and Vegetable Can-Storage Technology)

Dr.Naijing Fan presented "Engineering Drawing" (projection of intersecting lines)



Ms.Xiaoyu Zhang presented "Polymer Chemistry" (mechanism of free radical polymerization)

After finishing the classroom teaching session, the four young faculties went to the assigned reflection room on the third floor to finish the teaching reflection materials for this teaching session.



Finally, the three judges gave full recognition to all the participating faculty, shared their thoughts and feelings on their on-site performances, and also gave valuable suggestions. Professor Shouwen Zhang made a conclusive speech on behalf of the judges.

Professor Shouwen Zhang said that this Young Faculty Competition is of great significance. For young faculty, the most important part is to teach well with appropriate difficult teaching content to cultivate virtue and nurture students. Each chapter should be integrated with ideological and political education content. At the same time, the class should also highlight new ideas, concepts, and achievements, constantly grasp the frontiers of the discipline, and pay close attention to the integration of major food disciplines. Professor Shouwen Zhang also shared his award-winning experience to inspire the young faculties. The inputs provided by the judges not only provided guidance and reference for the four young faculties, but also for all the faculty and staff who attended the competition.


Based on the overall performance of the participating faculties, the final results of the competition are: first prize is Mingyue Sun, second prize is Xiaoyu Zhang, third prize are Yanhe Lang , and Naijing Fan .


Young teachers should take this competition as an opportunity to constantly summarize their experience, explore innovation and teaching reform, promote the improvement and innovation of teaching methods, continue to develop their teaching skills, improve teaching quality, and contribute their youthful strength to educational and teaching reform in the school, and to the implementation of the fundamental task of cultivating virtue and talents.
