Silver Age Wisdom Candle Shines on Classroom, Which Helps Faculty's Professional Growth - Documentary of Silver Age Lecture Event Held by the School of Food Engineering

 In order to make full usage of the valuable experience and the mentoring role of senior faculties and promote the improvement of teaching and research level of college teachers, on December 11, 2024, the School of Food Engineering successfully held the "Silver Age Lecture Hall" activity in Room 229 of the First Teaching Department. Two senior silver professors, Peng Wang and GuopingYu, were specially invited to share their rich knowledge and experienceswith our all faculty and students in the School.

 At beginning, Professor PengWang began with a title "How to become a qualified college teacher”. He shared his insights on the topicin a clear and concise manner. Professor PengWang is a "gold medal" facultywith a rich academic backgroundat Harbin Institute of Technology. He hasmade some outstanding achievements in the various fields such as environmental new pollutant detection and control, environmental functional materials, etc. He led and completed a lot of national and provincial level grants., published a large number of high influence factor academic papers. He elaborated on this topic from three parts: teaching, scientific research, and academic part. Regarding teaching, he said that the faculty should, constantly innovate new teaching methods, pay close attention to the teaching content and stimulate students' learning interest and help them reach their potential; Regarding scientific research, the young faculties should pay close attention to the latest developments of the discipline, actively writing various scientific research grants. More importantly to improve the ability to transform and apply scientific research results to the practice. At the same time, he also encourages teachers to actively participate in social services, fulfill the function of the university in serving society, and inherit and promote excellent academic culture. Professor PengWang's sharing provided comprehensive and systematic guidances for the growth of our young faculty.



    Subsequently, Professor Guoping Yu made a presentation titled “Experience Sharing of Course Goal Achievement Analysis“. Professor Yu has outstanding achievements in the fields of grain and oil deep processing and functional food development. She has led multiple national and provincial projects, published multiple high influence factor papers, won multiple awards, edited multiple textbooks, and formulated multiple local standards.

 Professor Yu elaborated on the key significance, specific methods, and practical applications of analyzing the achievement of course objectives in teaching. Through practical cases, it vividly demonstrates how to use scientific and effective methods to evaluate the achievement of course objectives, providing practical and feasible operational guidelines for the young faculty to accurately grasp teaching effect and improve teaching quality in a targeted manner. At the same time, Professor Yu encourages the young faculty to actively engage in teaching reform and research, continuously optimize curriculum design, improve teaching quality, in order to better meet students' learning needs and society's expectations for the talents.





    The "Silver Age Lecture Hall" event provided a wonderful opportunity for our college faculty to learn and exchange ideas. The sharing of the two professors was like a beacon, illuminating the direction for our faculty and staff to move forward on the path of teaching and research. The attending faculties will take two silver professors as role models, strive to improve their professional competence, actively engage in teaching and research work, and contribute more to the development of the college.

 The School of Food Engineering will continue to hold such meaningful activities, promote the construction of the teaching team, continuously improve the overall teaching and research level of the college, and create more solid foundation and better platform for the growth and development of the talents.
